The Prime Minister's Official Spokesman (PMOS) drew journalists' attention to the statement on Ministerial appointments. David Hanson would move across as a Minister of State from the Northern Ireland Office to the Ministry of Justice and that Gerry Sutcliffe would move from the Home Office to the Ministry of Justice.

Asked if we recognised the Financial Times story about the Prime Minister's conversation with the proposed French Prime Minister, the PMOS said that we would maintain the tradition of not commenting in detail on private conversations between Prime Ministers.
