Prime Minister

Asked if journalists should be prepared to go to Sedgefield on Thursday, the PMOS said that visits to the constituency fell into the Labour Party side, rather than the Government side.

Asked if the Prime Minister would have an audience with The Queen this week, the PMOS replied that he was not sure when The Queen returned from her visit to America. The PMOS stressed to people that whenever the Prime Minister signalled his intention to resign as Leader of the Labour Party, that did not affect his position as Prime Minister.

Asked to confirm that the Prime Minister would remain as Leader of the Labour Party until a replacement was elected, the PMOS replied that it was not a matter for him, but he followed the logic.
