Asked by the Scotsman if the Prime Minister would welcome a Scottish Olympic team, the PMOS said that as the Prime Minister had always said, he fully recognised and valued Scotland as Scotland, and equally, Scotland within the UK. He believed that both the UK and Scotland were stronger as a result. Asked with a wink if the Prime Minister would want to see Scotland’s football team within England’s football team, the PMOS replied that that was a subject which he would leave to others to debate. However, as a piece of mischief making, they were two good questions! Asked if the Prime Minister had any plans to meet the new First Minister, the PMOS replied that as he had said this morning, the Prime Minister had recently been in Washington and Iraq, and therefore, had not had the opportunity. However, the PMOS said that he was sure the Prime Minister would take an opportunity for a proper discussion. Asked if that discussion would be a priority, the PMOS said that it was a matter which was there to be discussed, and no doubt at some point, both offices would get together and find a suitable date.
