Drugs Visit

The Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) said the Prime Minister and David Blunkett would visit a police station west of London today, to highlight new measures the Government is introducing to tackle the menace of hard drugs.

In a speech to police and other local agencies alongside publication of the Drug Strategy progress report, Tackling Drugs Changing Lives, the PM will underline how the Government would step up its twin-track approach of enforcement and getting people into treatment.

He will set out some of the new measures that will have been contained in the forthcoming Drugs Bill to bear down on the problem of drug dealing and drug misuse. This was based on conversations the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary have had with police officers and those in the front line against drugs.
