Asked where we were on Trident, the PMOS said that we were exactly where we’d said we’d be. It was a process of exhaustive analysis going on and that process would go forward, but it was a step-by-step process.
Asked if the debate would be launched next week, the PMOS again said that it was a step-by step process, there would be a process of analysis within Whitehall, it would then be debated, and as the Prime Minister had said, he accepts that there will be full debate on the matter. Asked if part of the debate would cover the cost implications, the PMOS said that it was a step-by-step process and an exhaustive process would look at all aspects.
