Put that Lord Myners had said this morning that the matter of Sir Fred Goodwin s pension was now entirely in the hands of the new board at the Royal Bank of Scotland, the PMS said that the Treasury was continuing to explore legal avenues.
Put that the European Commission was extending its investigation into the Northern Rock affair, the PMS said that it was best to check with the Treasury but that his understanding was that this was more of a technicality reflecting the fact that there had been a change in Northern Rock s business strategy.
