Prime Minister’s Trip to Washington
« Litvinenko Case | Back to most recent briefing | Middle East »
Asked for further information about the Prime Minister’s forthcoming trip to the US, and why was he going, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) said that the Prime Minister would see the President and some Congressional leaders.
Asked if it was a coincidence that the Prime Minister was going to the US at the same time as the Baker/Hamilton Report was being published, the PMOS said that the report was an independent one, and therefore, it was a matter for them to talk about it. The Prime Minister did give evidence to them last month, and we had briefed on that evidence at the time. It was a total coincidence, if a happy one, that we happen to be in Washington at this time.
Asked if the Prime Minister would meet James Baker and Lee Hamilton, the PMOS replied that he did not think that they would meet.
