Northern Ireland

Asked about the Prime Minister’s change of travel plans to Scotland tomorrow, and did they have something to do with the Northern Ireland Assembly deadline, the PMS confirmed that the Prime Minister would be travelling up tomorrow, as he was fully engaged with Northern Ireland issues this afternoon.

Asked what that would consist of, the PMS replied that as people would expect, it would involve an intensive round of telephone discussions.

Asked whether tomorrow could be expected to be a watertight agreement that involved all the parties, the PMS said that we would talk about tomorrow tomorrow.

Asked if the deadline was midnight, or would it be 2359, the PMS replied that we had said that the 24th was the official date, but people should to see where we were tomorrow.

Asked if the agreement was teetering on the brink of collapse yet again, the PMS repeated that people should see where we were tomorrow.
