Clare Short

Asked if the Prime Minister was at the informal council pressing for aviation to be put in to the EU Emission Trading Scheme early, and would that affect airline prices. The PMOS said that aviation would be part of climate change discussions. Part of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme discussions widened the areas that it covered to include transport and other schemes around the world. The PMOS added that California was developing such a scheme and we wanted to explore ways of linking such schemes. Asked again if airline prices would go up the PMOS said that pricing was a matter for airlines.

  1. Don’t see much about Clare Short in this statement but good luck to her. A principled politician is rare these days.

  2. Good for Clare.
The Public would be more interested in politics if we had more independent and more .
honest politicians. Members who are not involved in any conflict of interest nor of duty, Members who are not party fodder who obey the dictates of Party whips, right or left but who follow the dictates of their intellect and advocate what they know ro be right rather than pay lip service to the spin they know to be wrong.

  3. Clare Short was happy to have the funding for all her elections as a Labour MP. When she had problems with reselection she was happy to have the support of the NEC to keep her in Parliament. When she was a minister she was happy to have the salary, car, the enhanced pension, and all other trappings of office. She resigned shortly before a reshuffle when she knew she was likely to be sacked after flip flopping over support/oppostion to the war in Iraq. She claims martyrdom everytime someone has criticised her. She wants the defeat at the next election of a number of her colleagues and when they rightly complain she resigns in a huff. She has acted throughout like a spolit schild who throws tantrums when she does not get her own way. If she was honest she would have resigned over the war. She did not. She thought being anti-Blair would help her at the last election. There was a massive swing against her. By resigning now she may get a bit more money for TV/media appearances to improve her bank balance no doubt followed by an autobigraphy to build up her bank balance/

  6. Clare Short resigned over lies about Iraq. Watch this if you are in any doubt that she right.
