Gurkhas
« Jaguar Land Rover | Back to most recent briefing | Damian McBride Emails »
Asked if the Prime Minister told Joanna Lumley that he would come up with a new solution regarding Gurkhas by the end of May, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) said that the position remained as set out yesterday; we were first of all reviewing the 1500 outstanding cases, which we were committed to do by no later than the end of May. The conclusions of that review would form the basis for the wider review, which we were committed to publish by no later than the start of the summer recess. As we were saying yesterday, the decisions that we took on the 1500 cases we were committed to process by the end of May would set important precedents and criteria, which would then form an important part of the wider review going forward.
Asked if the Prime Minister had received a letter from Keith Vaz MP about Gurkhas, the PMS said that we had received it and were yet to reply to it.
