Asked about Paul Myners appointment, the PMS replied that Paul Myners was a very distinguished figure in the City with a lot of experience in the City and other sectors. As to the specific proposal in Chris Grayling’s letter, we would have to consider that and respond. But nobody was in any doubt about the integrity or the experience and expertise of somebody like Paul Myners.
Asked if we were unlikely to open it up to a Select Committee, the PMS replied that this proposal had been put to us, and we would consider it.
