Asked about Paul Myners appointment, the PMS replied that Paul Myners was a very distinguished figure in the City with a lot of experience in the City and other sectors. As to the specific proposal in Chris Grayling's letter, we would have to consider that and respond. But nobody was in any doubt about the integrity or the experience and expertise of somebody like Paul Myners. Briefing took place at 15:00 | Read whole briefing | Comments (0) Counter Terrorism
Put that when David Davis had said that Lord West was wrong about the 28 day review, who was correct, the Prime Minister's Spokesman (PMS) said that the Home Office had checked with the police this morning, and the figures we had from the police showed that 6 people had been held for the maximum 27/28 day period. Of those, 3 had been charged and 3 were released without charge. Briefing took place at 9:00 | Read whole briefing | Comment (1) Parliament Business
Put that there were 39 Written Statements on the Order paper today, and could people assume that that was the bulk of them, or would there be more tomorrow, the PMS replied that he did not know how many Written statements were due tomorrow, but it was not unusual for there to be a lot of departmental business at this stage in the Parliamentary calendar.
