Carne Ross
« Turkey and Middle East | Back to most recent briefing | BAe »
Asked to comment on John Major’s call for an independent inquiry following the Carne Ross revelations, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) replied that there had been four independent inquiries into these matters, all having full access to all the information they required, and all four came to conclusions which have been published. Therefore all these matters have been the subject of not just one inquiry, but four inquiries.

Garbage as usual from PMOS. The four enquiries were completely circumscribed. The remits were closely followed to the point of meaningless investigation.
And so it goes on…
Comment by Chuck Unsworth — 15 Dec 2006 on 9:34 pm | LinkCarne Ross confirmed what everyone in the Middle East knew quite well at the time. A new investigation must be directed not at rehashing the WMD issue, which is now thoroughly settled, but at identifying the guilty parties who used lies to entice the UK into an illegal war.
Comment by John Rodenbeck — 17 Dec 2006 on 9:42 am | LinkIt’s the deception that underpins the whole WMD fiasco. Deception which did not end with the Blair speech in the Commons about rapid deployment. He is still spinning the foreign policy disaster of our entire history today in Iraq. We’ll stay till the job is done, he says. Bush phraseology and completely meaningless. Here he is on Voice of America(how appropriate):
