Put that there was a meeting of ministers to discuss the A400 aircraft in London and was there any further details, the PMS advised people to check with the department.

Asked if there was any further news on a possible meeting with Iceland, the PMS said that the position remained the same in relation to the work the Treasury was doing. The government of Iceland had reaffirmed its commitment to fully repay the loan.

Asked about John Denham’s speech today and whether it would focus on the fact that class was more important than race in terms of disadvantages, the PMS advised people to wait until the speech.

Asked if there was any information on the number of British people actually in Haiti, the PMS replied that it was our understanding that there were no British casualties. The Foreign Office would be able to give more information in terms of numbers.
