Prevent Programme

Asked about the Select Committee report, the PMS said that the Prime Minister himself had not expressed a view, but the important thing was for the Government to consider the report and its recommendations and what impact they might have in practice before responding more fully. It was an important report and it needed to be given proper consideration.

Asked if it had been discussed in Cabinet, the PMS said that it had not. Put that the Government had been giving money and a voice to unelected Muslim leaders, the PMS said that at this stage it was important we considered the report and its recommendations and then responded more fully.
