Israeli explusions
« Strikes | Back to most recent briefing | Samantha Cameron Expecting a Baby »
Asked if it had been indicated that there will or will not be any retaliatory expulsions/withdrawals of British diplomats, the PMS said the Foreign Secretary yesterday met Israeli Foreign Minister Lieberman, handed over a letter seeking formal assurance from him that in future the State of Israel would never be party to the misuse of British passports in such a way. There was a meeting yesterday between Sir Peter Ricketts and Ron Prosor, the Israeli Ambassador. The other actions that had been taken are that we had provided consular assistance for 12 people whose identity and passports were misused and we had also asked the FCO to amend the travel advice to Israel to make clear the potential risk and to set up steps they can take to minimise that risk.
