Asked if the Prime Minister had expressed any views at all on the decision by the French government to apparently not invite the Royal Family to the D-Day memorial, the PMS said that we simply did not recognise this story in today’s Daily Mail. The Prime Minister had been invited to D-Day commemorations on the 6th June and very much hoped to attend. We spoke to Buckingham Palace about this, this morning and we understood that there was no anger expressed by the Royal Family and that they were content with the arrangements.
