PMQ’s

Asked what the Prime Minister s reflection was on his slip-up in PMQ s, the PMS said he didn t think the Prime Minister had had any particular reflection on the matter. What he was focussing on were the issues that were of concern to the British people, such as how we provided support at this difficult time.
Guarantee Scheme
Asked whether extending the guarantee scheme was being discussed and was the Government effectively acknowledging that the recapitalisation scheme hadn t done enough, the PMS said that that wasn t the case. What the Prime Minister had said today was that clearly the first stage was to stabilise the banking system and prevent the banking system from collapsing. We now needed to move to the next stage, which was to ensure that banks did their job. Of course we kept all of these things under review as people would expect.
