Visit to Rome

Asked whether the Prime Minister’s visit would be in a personal capacity, the PMOS said we had set out that the Prime Minister wished to talk to the Pope, as he had done in the past, not just about inter-faith issues, but also global and regional issues. One of those was the situation in the Middle East. Therefore, it was entirely appropriate, as he had done in the past, for the Prime Minister to meet the Pope.
Asked whether the Prime Minister would travel to Rome after the Summit, the PMOS said he did not talk about the Prime Minister’s travel plans.
