Asked if the Prime Minister would return to Hillsborough Castle to oversee discussions in Northern Ireland, the PMS said that he would not comment on the Prime Minister’s travel plans and that the Prime Minister and Brian Cowen looked forward to an update on the progress on the 29th January. The PMS added that as the Prime Minister said in his statement on Wednesday, if a resolution to the issues proved impossible the Government stood ready to publish its specific proposals for wider debate and discussion.
