Iraq Inquiry

Asked if the letters between Tony Blair and President Bush had been passed on to the Chilcott inquiry team, the PMS said that we had made clear from the outset of the inquiry that we would not comment on a day by day basis. The Prime Minister was supportive of the inquiry and would cooperate fully if he was asked to give evidence, but we would not give a running commentary.
Put that the opposition parties were calling on the Government to publish the letters, the PMS said that the Government supported the inquiry and Government Ministers asked to attend would do so in due course but we had nothing further to add.
Asked if the Government would be publishing the letters, the PMS said that if the Chilcott inquiry had any questions for the Government directly then it was for them to put to us.

These letters show it is now clear that WMDs had nothing to do with going to war. Campbell and Blair fabricated the “dossiers” as a cover for their real intentions. This leads to another question: why did they persecute Dr David Kelly, the British UN Weapons Inspector, when they probably knew he was right? Why did Kelly have to die? See The strange case of the death of Dr David Kelly, UN Weapons Inpector. It is worrying that Campbell and Blair could have been ruthless killers at home as well as abroad, the verdict on this conclusion is, however, open.
