Security

Asked if the Prime Minister was aware of concerns from airport operators that security upgrades had been imposed on them too quickly, the PMS said that this was an important part of the response that the Government was making to the terrorist incident that happened over Christmas and whatever we did would be in collaboration with the airport authorities. Lord Adonis gave more details on this during his statement to the House of Lords yesterday.
The PMS went on to say that although airport scanners were important there was no one measure of technology that would make an absolute guarantee, which was why there were a number of other initiatives under way. We hoped to get these measures in place as soon as possible.
