The PMS said that the Prime Minister spoke to President Karzai yesterday. During the call they discussed preparations for the London Conference on Afghanistan, to be held in London on 28 January. President Karzai updated the Prime Minister on planning to build up the Afghan army and police, on improving local and national governance and efforts to tackle corruption.
The Prime Minister also spoke yesterday to NATO Secretary-General Rasmussen. They discussed objectives for the London Conference on Afghanistan and agreed that driving forward the training of the Afghan Army would be a key component of discussions at the conference. They agreed to keep in close touch in the run up to the event.
