« Supreme Court banks case | Back to most recent briefing | Chilcott Inquiry »
Asked about new allegations that Iraqi detainees had been mistreated, the PMS said that there was no credible evidence that those detained as a result of the attack on British troops in prolonged firefight at the Danny Boy checkpoint were mistreated. He said that this was a subject that we take very seriously but the treatment of the individuals in the photograph did not amount to a breach of the Geneva Convention and it was important to remember that the first priority at the end of such attacks is to protect our personnel from further threats.
