Asked if it was normal for the Prime Minister to attack businessmen as he had done when describing ex-Royal Bank of Scotland chairman, the PMS said she did not recognise that particular characterisation of the Prime Minister’s remarks but as she had not yet seen the transcript she would rather wait until she had before commenting. Put to her that the Prime Minister had described Sir George Matthewson as ‘guilty of self-indulgent …putting forward an absurd economic argument’; the PMS said she would look into the comments.

Asked if the Prime Minister was doing anything for Comic Relief today, the PMS said that it was widely reported that he had done something for Comic Relief but she did not want to spoil the surprise.

Asked where the Prime Minister would be this weekend, the PMS said that he would be at Chequers. Asked if there would be any meetings at Chequers, the PMS said none that she was aware of.

Asked if the Prime Minister would be having dinner with Kylie Minogue, the PMS expressed surprise (not having seen the front page of the Evening Standard at that point) but said not that she was aware of.

Asked how often the rubbish was collected from No.10, the PMS asked whether she was correct in thinking that the parliamentary lobby expected her to have conducted a survey of smokers and a review of waste disposal before the briefing. Either way she would not answer the reporters question.
