Guantanamo Bay
« By-Election Results | Back to most recent briefing | NHS »
Asked if the Prime Minister was concerned that the US administration was pushing ahead with military trials for inmates at Guantanamo Bay given that they were against the Geneva Convention, the PMOS said that it wasn’t any more appropriate for us to comment on the outcome of court cases in the US than it would be for the US to comment on outcome of court cases here. We had made our position on Guantanamo Bay clear and the US was well aware of that position. It was a matter for the US Government as to how it responded to its own Supreme Court, not us.
