David Blunkett Payment

Asked about David Blunkett receiving payment of compensation after leaving office, only to return to Cabinet later, the PMS said the rules were all laid down in the Ministerial Pensions and Salaries Act 1991. She would not discuss individual salaries and pay and conditions but these rules applied to Members of Parliament as well as Ministers.

Asked if there would be any reviews of the regulations, the PMS said she was not aware of any plans to hold a review.

Asked if individual MPs should or could forgo payments voluntarily, the PMS said that was up to individual members.

  1. Or, to put it another way, ‘the cash is available, you just need to work the system’.

What chance is there of any of this disgustingly greed-ridden lot forgoing any cash, eh?

And this is on top of the ‘security’ matter which meant that our Dave managed to cling onto his palatial grace and favour pad – and will do so for the foreseable future.

    Snouts in the trough.

  3. In typically socialist fashion the pigs gobble up the publicly funded swill and also give jobs on every quango going to their mates. Of course the other lot arrange directorships whilst in office with firms they’ve dealt with officially for when they leave and they also give quango jobs to their mates.

It’s probably 6 of one and half a dozen of the other but this lot seem to be setting new standards in sleazy behaviour. Honest mistakes, sure, we all make them, but as I think Kinnock said – ‘Which part of the word spouse doesn’t he (david junket)understand?’

The security excuse is a load of old twaddle. It also enables some senior ministers to keep their cars and a plod outside their doors so they feel important long after they’ve left their jobs. Don’t ex PMs get a car and a plod for life?
