King Abdullah of Jordan
« Speaker of the House of Commons election | Back to most recent briefing | Iraq War Inquiry »
Asked about the Prime Minister s meeting with King Abdullah, the PMS said that the Prime Minister and King Abdullah discussed the Middle East Peace Process (MEPP) and Iran. On the MEPP they agreed that the Israeli Prime Minister s speech was a helpful step forward but more was needed to re-launch the peace process. In particular Israel needed to meet its commitment and implement a total freeze on settlement building activity. On Iran the Prime Minister and King Abdullah both expressed concern at developments and agreed the regime needed to react to protests with restraint and avoid violence.
