Hezbollah

Asked whether the Prime Minister supported the comments of Bill Rammell who had said there could be some contact with political elements of Hezbollah, the PMS replied that we had considered our position on contacts with Hezbollah, which had been in place since 2005 and in light of more positive political developments in Lebanon, including the formation of a national unity government in which Hezbollah was participating, we were exploring certain contacts at an official level with the political wing of Hezbollah, including MP s.
Asked if that might lead to a change in position on Hamas, the PMS said that this was a decision in relation to Hezbollah and people should not read anything more into it than that.
