When asked why the Prime Minister had chosen today to speak on health when the report was not out for a week, the PMS said that e were waiting for the Future Forum report, but it was normal for the Prime Minister to make a speech on health, particularly when this debate was going on.
Asked if the Prime Minister was expecting any Cabinet resignations, the PMS said he was not. Asked what would happen with clinical senates, the PMS said that he had nothing further to add to what the Prime Minister had said in his speech.
On whether the Prime Minister agreed with the DPM that the Health Bill needed to go back to Committee stages, the PMS said that we would need to wait and see what the Future Forum report said and then take a look at the implications for legislation.
Asked when the Government would respond to the Future Forum report, the PMS said he would anticipate a response soon.
