Asked if the Prime Minister regretted the way in which the Gurkhas saga had occurred, the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) told the assembled press, the Prime Minister had a very warm conversation with Joanna Lumley over the phone. The PMS said, Joanna Lumley had referred to the graciousness of the Prime Minister in relation to the campaign last summer. He went on to add, the Prime Minister read Kevan Jones’ statement to Joanna Lumley. The PMS said, the Prime Minister praised the campaign and reaffirmed his commitment.
Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to Kevan Jones, the PMS said, there was no need as Kevan Jones had apologised unreservedly.
Asked how long the Prime Minister had spoken to Joanna Lumley, the PMS said, it was a brief but warm conversation.
