Asked about the Chancellor’s comments on the maturity of the UK’s debt and in what context it was spoken about, the PMS replied that one of the comments the Chancellor had made was that it was a feature of the UK economy that we did have longer term maturity of our debt.
Asked what the Government’s position was on a European Monetary Fund, the PMS replied that the Chancellor had said that this was expected to be on the agenda for the Finance Ministers meeting next week.
Asked if there was a date set for the Budget yet, the PMS said that it was a matter for the Chancellor.
