Asked what the Prime Minister was seeking to get from his meeting with President Karzai, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had regular conversations with President Karzai by telephone and today was a good opportunity for them to meet face to face and discuss some of the proposals ahead of the conference tomorrow.
Asked who would be attending the conference tomorrow, the PMS said that she could confirm that President Karzai, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and NATO Secretary General Rasmussen would be attending. We had invited over sixty delegations from the International Security Assistance Force partners, Afghanistan’s immediate neighbours and key regional players. The Iranians had also confirmed that they would be sending a representative.
