Asked if the Prime Minister supported the idea of having an EU humanitarian rapid reaction force, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was open-minded but here and now we needed to help people in Haiti.
Asked if the Prime Minister had any sympathy with the French who claimed that the US had taken over control of the airport in Haiti, the PMS said that the Prime Minister’s view was that this was a human tragedy and it was paramount that aid got in as quickly as possible. Coordination was a challenge but everyone in the international community was pulling together to help Haiti.
