Asked if the Prime Minister would accept that manufacturing had declined three times as faster under a Labour government as it had done under a Conservative one, the PMS said that we had seen an announcement from Lord Mandelson today involving Rolls Royce, that showed that advanced manufacturing was alive and kicking.
The Prime Minister thought that the manufacturing base of the country was evolving as the economy was evolving. A lot of the area for growth in manufacturing would be in advanced manufacturing.
