Northern Rock

Asked what the Prime Minister’s view was on the mutualisation of Northern Rock, the PMS said the European Commission had only just made the announcement. The PMS said the announcement had approved the state aid package, which meant the Northern Rock recovery plan could move forward and Northern Rock could return to the mortgage market and support economic recovery.

Asked whether the Prime Minister had a view on the mutualisation of Northern Rock, the PMS said the Prime Minister had not yet expressed a view on the recent announcement.
