« Cabinet | Back to most recent briefing | Letter to Swedish Prime Minister »
Asked if the Prime Minister was concerned that the Territorial Army (TA) situation could end up like the Gurkha situation, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had made clear in his correspondence with the Leader of the Opposition and publicly that the priority for the TA was to ensure that those who were deployed in Afghanistan were properly trained. The Prime Minister had huge regard for what the TA did, both in the UK and in campaigns abroad. Bill Rammell had made a statement yesterday and there would be a debate tomorrow and there was nothing more to say at this stage.
