Misc

Asked about this morning’s NSID Cabinet sub-Committee meeting, the PMS said that if there was anything general to guide people on after the meeting then we would do so, but nobody should expect a significant announcement. There was speculation around developments today, but as had traditionally been the case, if and when there were announcements to be made they would be done at the appropriate time and place.

Asked about a meeting that took place yesterday between the unions and Magna, the PMS referred the journalist to the Department for Business.

Asked if the Prime Minister would be near a television at the time of the Opposition leader’s speech, the PMS said that she did not have a print out of the Prime Minster’s diary to hand so was unable to say exactly where the Prime Minister would be in relation to a television.

Asked if the Prime Minister thought that there were sufficient funds to meet our energy needs following Eon’s decision to shelve plans for a coal power station in Kingsnorth, the PMS said that the Kingsnorth decision, as the company had said, was a response to the falling demand in energy. Action had already been taken to build capacity of new energy across the grid in the UK, and therefore we would not share the concern raised in the question.
