» Monday, April 6, 2009Meeting of the Tripartite Authority
Asked about today’s meeting between the Prime Minister, the Chancellor, the Governor of the Bank of England and the Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that he did not anticipate any words from the Prime Minister to be released after the meeting. Asked about the content of today’s meeting, the PMS said the main issue would be how to take forward the changes that we need to make to regulation of the financial sector. He said Lord Turner had already published a report setting out his proposals, and the Government would be publishing a White Paper in the spring on reform of the financial sector which would take forward the recommendations of the Turner review and take into account the conclusions of the G20 summit. Asked when the Prime Minister last met the Governor of the Bank of England, the PMS said that they met regularly. Asked whether the Prime Minister had met the Governor of the Bank of England in the last two weeks, the PMS repeated that they met regularly.
