Asked whether military action would be on the agenda at the UN Security Council meeting, the PMS said that the Foreign Secretary had made clear in the past that that was not really where the debate was in relation to Zimbabwe. The purpose of the UN Security Council meeting on Monday was to ensure that Zimbabwe did remain very much a focus of international attention and to ensure that pressure continued to be brought to bare on the regime there, given the appalling conditions we were seeing at the moment, particularly in relation to the outbreak of cholera.
