Asked if the economy was discussed at the Prime Minister s event this morning, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) replied that the Prime Minister, Jacqui Smith, and Hazel Blears were talking about the Government s crime agenda, and what the Government was doing to tackle crime, but obviously this broadened out into a wider discussion about what the Government was doing to help families and communities at this difficult time for the economy. Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to any other EU leaders today, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had not spoken to any leaders today to his knowledge. He would be seeing them all at the summit on Thursday. Put that the Prime Minister talked yesterday about getting agreement on various economic measures in the next few days , and asked if he was referring to the Brussels meeting, the PMS replied the Prime Minister was referring to the Brussels meeting. Asked if there was any plans for any other meetings, the PMS replied that the Brussels meeting was our main international economic focus between now and Christmas.
