Regional Economic Council

Asked for details of the REC, the PMS said it was being chaired jointly by the Chancellor and the Secretary of State for Business. The REC was set up at the time of the reshuffle when we established the NEC. The purpose of the REC which reported to the NEC, was to look at regional action on issues that impacted on the national economy, to galvanise co-ordinated action between central Government and regional partners, to address key issues relating to the economy and to report back any feedback on economic issues at the local level to the NEC.

Asked if the NEC was meeting this week, the PMS confirmed that they would be, but he would check when the meeting was scheduled to take place.

  1. Right, now answer this – Exactly what business is it of a Scottish MP, about what goes on in England, now that Scotland has its own Parliament.

Then tell us why it is that English people have to get cancer to get what the Scots get for a sniffle? (free prescriptions)

Gordon Brown signed the Scottish Claim of Right, didn’t he? So why is a rabid Scottish Nationalist ruling over England with his team of Vichy supporters?

Regions? England will be a nation long after Gordon Brown has crept back to Scotland with his tail between his legs.
