Asked if the issue of party finances came up at Cabinet this morning, the PMS said no.
Asked what was discussed at Cabinet this morning, the PMS said that they mostly discussed the economy. There was an update from Alistair Darling on the economy, including what the global response to the international financial crisis had been over the past few weeks. There was also an update from Lord Mandelson on the measures that he was announcing today on small and medium sized enterprises and an update from Ed Miliband on energy policy and climate change, following his Statement to the House last week. Finally, there was an update from Jacqui Smith on knife crime and the Government s action to deal with it.
Asked for more information on what Jacqui Smith said, the PMS said that it was essentially an update on where we were following the implementation of the knife crime action plan in the summer.
