Put that the Prime Minister had sort of apologised last week and asked if this meant there had been a change in his style, the PMS said that, as the Prime Minister had been saying today, of all the hundreds of decisions he took each week, it was difficult to put every single one exactly right, however this was not some great change of style.
Asked if the Prime Minister felt that he was given too many papers by civil servants, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was happy with the staff he had working for him in Downing Street.
Asked if the Prime Minister had considered the representations made by the Times newspaper that Michael White should be taken on board, the PMS said that he would not start discussing representations of appointments.
Asked what time the Prime Minister usually finished work, the PMS said that the Prime Minister worked very hard, was very committed to his job and took it very seriously. As such he worked the hours necessary in order to fulfil his duties. He also tried to find as much time as possible to spend with his young family.
