Asked what was on the agenda for the Prime Minister’s meeting with the Icelandic PM, the PMS replied that this was their first official meeting, although both attended the NATO Summit in Bucharest and were both Finance Ministers together previously. They had a wide ranging discussion including the international financial situation, and the collaboration that we have with Iceland on renewables technology to combat climate change among other bilateral issues.
Asked if Britain would support Iceland if it applied for EU membership, the PMS replied that he was sure that our position on that was long standing and unchanged.
