« Foreign Prisoners | Back to most recent briefing | Deputy Prime Minister »
Asked for a reaction to the EU report suggesting that the CIA had operated 1,000 extraordinary rendition flights over EU countries in the past five years, the PMOS said that the Foreign Office had responded to that particular issue. We had nothing further to add.

I am struggling to think of a reason why there should have been even one rendition flight.
Should we really continue to provide troops to a country that acts in such an unusual way.
Where will it stop? Does the UK want to start this sort of thing? Someone found guilty of murder flown to a country where the death penalty is still levied, so that such a penalty can be applied? No of course not. But isn’t rendition similar to that, otherwise why do it at all?
