Beach Volleyball

Asked for how long the Prime Minister had been interested in beach volleyball in the light of the item in today’s Telegraph Diary, the PMOS said that he had not turned his attention to newspaper diary gossip during the course of this morning.

  1. This is Most Bizarre. I can’t find the Telegraph story, but "Mega Star" (some kind of celebrity publication, I think) has picked it up:
    <a href="http://www.megastar.co.uk/ents/news/2004/03/23/sMEG01MTA4MDA0NDk3Njg.html">http://www.megastar.co.uk/ents/news/2004/03/23/sMEG01MTA4MDA0NDk3Njg.html</a&gt;

    However [Barbara Cassani, managing London’s Olympic bid] reckons: "The subject [Blair] got most animated about was beach volleyball.

    "He explained the rules to me over dinner, and is very pleased that it will be taking place on Horse Guards Parade, near to where he works."

    — good to see that he’s not spending all his brainpower on great affairs of state.
