Asked if there was the feeling that Gaddafi had stabilised his position, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that our position on this hadn’t changed: we thought Gaddafi should go, which is also what President Obama had been saying last night.
Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to President Obama last night or this morning, the PMS said no.
Put that we didn’t seem to be trying to persuade President Obama of our position, the PMS said that we were doing a huge amount of work with international colleagues, including the US on Libyan issues.
Asked about discussions with opposition groups, the PMS said that we were talking to the opposition groups, which the Ambassador was leading.
