Asked if it was still the Government’s intention to amend the Constitutional Bill to have a referendum on AV after the election, the PMS replied that there was a commitment to have a referendum early in the next Parliament. Existing legislation set out the broad framework, but further legislation would be needed to set the terms of the referendum.
