The PMS gave an update on questions asked in the morning briefing regarding the Foreign Secretary’s visit to Washington saying he would be meeting Secretary of State Clinton, Vice President Biden and appearing in front of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee following an invitation to discuss issues ahead of the Afghanistan conference in London.
The PMS gave an update on the Haiti charity single saying that the Prime Minister and Simon Cowell had discussed the issue and that the Government would be waiving the VAT on the money made from sales. Simon Cowell would issue and update on the single and musicians involved in due course. The PMS added that donations to the DEC appeal had risen to 38 million and that this was a great testament to the generosity of the British public.
Asked if the Foreign Secretary would be putting forward plans for a regional council for Afghanistan, Pakistan and India at the Afghanistan conference, the PMS said that details on the conference would be set out in due course.
